Miramar Beach is the resort end of Walton County: Sandestin's gated communities and Baytowne Wharf on one side, the condominium and single-family stretch along Scenic Gulf Drive on the other, and the Silver Sands and Emerald Coast Parkway commercial corridor running between them. The permanent population is around nine thousand and climbing steadily, but the number of people actually here in July is several times that.
